Schwinn Coston CE E-Bike Review: A Double-Edged Sword

On the other hand, in the time I've had an e-bike, I have barely touched my poor Trek bike. E-biking is very powerful and addictive, and it has ruined traditional cycling for me, and I can't decide if that's a good thing. So, while my doctor, my therapist, and I all unpack that, this is my full review of the Coston CE e-bike from Schwinn. What makes me excited about the bike is the possibilities that it opens up, but like a lot of aspects of this bike, it's something of a double-edged sword. Electric bikes are a ton of fun and I've had a great time this summer riding them. Front and rear lights that run off a traditional tire-contact generator are included. At the very top of the Schwinn electric bike range is the Coston DX. This combination provides up to 45 miles of range on a single charge when used with the 6-speed Shimano drivetrain.
For example the Healy Ridge and Ridgewood e-bikes are great for trails and other off-road rides, whereas the Mendocino is perfect for casual cruising around the neighborhood. Its throttle was so lackluster and slow — especially when compared with other bikes of a similar price class — that it sometimes didn’t feel like it was powered at all. Once you’re up to speed and cruising on a flat surface, the ride quality feels smooth and reasonably quick, but the motor struggles up moderate hills. And when it comes to serious hills, the Coston gets left far behind other e-bikes. Biking season is on the way, so we thought now would be a good time to share our review of the Schwinn Coston DX. Schwinn offers a mid-range hybrid electric bike in the Coston CE, with components, features, and capabilities in between the Marshall and the Coston DX. Sharing the same 288 Wh battery as the Marshall, the Coston CE has a 35-mile range and can hit a top speed of 20mph. It’s a good blend of “comfortable while sitting on it at the store” without being horrendous to actually ride. It’s, obviously, 3D - I really hate those 2D seats, so this is a good one. The pedals are nice metal units, with a grippy rubber strip around them. These are definitely easy on the feet or shoes, and are perfectly fine for barefoot riding, should you care to do so. They seem to be quite strong units, and I wouldn’t expect any problems with them, ever. There are five speeds you can adjust via the bike's thumb pad controller located on the left handle. The LED display shows you how much assistance you're getting, as well as how much battery life is left. When you want to stop, just squeeze the brake levers and the motor cuts off.
